Reviews of Electronic SIM (eSIM) Options

I've curated a select list of eSIM providers here on Phone Travel Wiz, but it's possible that during your search for the perfect eSIM for your journey, you've come across numerous others online. So, why don't I feature all of them on my site?

The reason is straightforward. Many eSIM providers in the market either operate as intermediaries of intermediaries, charge exorbitant prices, or employ deceptive tactics by pretending to be local mobile operators when they are not. It's counterproductive for me to endorse or promote (essentially, sell) these eSIM providers if they offer identical services at a steep 50% markup simply because they can.

My primary aim is to help you save on data costs while ensuring you enjoy a seamless network experience, not to fill my pockets or theirs with unnecessary expenses. In most cases, I cover the costs of the eSIMs I test, not to mention the local SIM cards.

Trust me when I say I receive numerous requests and offers from rather questionable companies to endorse and sell their eSIMs. One such company even proposed a staggering 50% commission rate. However, I soon discovered that they had essentially copied and pasted Airalo's privacy policy without bothering to replace "Airalo" throughout the text . Furthermore, they boldly claimed to have more than one million satisfied customers, even though they only launched in September 2022 (and they reached out to me in November 2022).

In any case, I refrain from reviewing and endorsing an eSIM provider unless I have personally tested their eSIMs in at least two countries and four cities. Often, I aim to use eSIMs in even more countries to gain a more comprehensive understanding of how they function and provide valuable feedback to the provider for potential improvements (which ultimately benefit you).

For instance, it took me approximately four months to be satisfied that Nomad, a relatively new entrant at the time, was an eSIM provider worth recommending. This decision was made after rigorous testing of their eSIMs in around ten countries. I undertake such extensive assessments by comparing new contenders to established eSIM providers and local SIM cards, considering factors like pricing, reception quality, and network speeds.

For instance, I encountered an issue where Nomad's Australia eSIM frequently remained stuck at 3G, even when the network it relied on (Optus) and other travel eSIMs utilizing the same network were performing differently back in July 2022. I reported this issue to them (or rather, I complained, with a touch of humor). When I retested the eSIM in November 2022, it appeared that the problem had been resolved. While I hadn't written the specific review at the time of drafting this text, I intended to mention the past slow 3G speeds in the review. This is because reviews should accurately reflect my experiences, even if the issue has been addressed.

Therefore, while I may not have discount codes for the 100+ eSIM providers out there, as some other sites might, it's because I don't collaborate with all of them. However, I firmly believe that you'll have a positive experience with the eSIM providers I do recommend, given my extensive testing. And when discounts are available, I'm more than happy to share them with you .

As of now, I endorse eSIMs from Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, Simify, SimOptions, and Ubigi, and I encourage you to explore my reviews of these providers as well!
